Project Summary
New Classrooms Innovation Partners
Teacher Portal · Student Portal · Internal Tools
I served as the sole UI/UX Designer and Front-End Designer across multiple product surfaces supporting instruction, student learning, and internal operations. The work focused on designing durable systems—interfaces and workflows that hold up under daily use, real constraints, and scale.
Context
New Classrooms operates at the intersection of curriculum, data, and school operations. Design decisions needed to support daily classroom use by teachers, independent student interaction, and internal reporting and program management. The systems had to remain consistent, interpretable, and scalable across schools and teams.
Primary users
Teachers, students, operations and analytics teams.
Constraints
Time pressure, consistency across schools, reporting accuracy.
Design priorities
Cognitive load reduction, workflow integrity, reusable patterns.
1) Teacher Portal
The primary instructional surface—designed to reduce friction, standardize workflows, and make progress signals interpretable at a glance.
What I owned
- Information architecture and navigation across teacher workflows
- Progress and performance views optimized for scanability
- Reusable UI patterns across reporting, planning, and monitoring tools
Design emphasis
- Scanability over density
- Consistent hierarchy across views
- Predictable interaction patterns for daily use
Selected artifacts
2) Student Portal
Student-facing learning experience designed for clarity, continuity, and independent progress— without relying on novelty or engagement gimmicks.
What I owned
- Learning flows that keep students oriented across sessions
- Feedback states, progress cues, and error recovery patterns
- Visual and interaction consistency aligned with teacher and internal systems
Design emphasis
- Clarity over novelty
- Immediate feedback and momentum preservation
- Consistent cues that support self-guided learning
Selected artifacts
3) Internal Tools
Internal reporting and operations tools translating raw data into decision-ready views. Designed to reduce manual overhead, increase accuracy, and make performance signals readable by non-technical teams.
What I owned
- Dashboards and reporting views for operations and program teams
- Standardized templates for interpretation across datasets
- Workflow tools designed to replace spreadsheet-heavy processes
Design emphasis
- Accuracy and trustworthiness
- Reusable structures across datasets
- Reduced manual overhead and fewer interpretation gaps
Selected artifacts
Outcomes
- Established shared design logic across teacher, student, and internal systems
- Reduced workflow friction for educators and internal teams through consistent patterns
- Improved interpretability of progress and performance signals
- Delivered systems designed to hold up under daily, real-world use
